B. D. Mayberry Young Scientist Award
The B. D. Mayberry Young Scientist Award is named in honor of Dr. B. D. Mayberry. He served more than forty years in various capacities in teaching, research and administration, including Dean and Research Director at Tuskegee University. Among his most noted accomplishments was the role he played in the early years of growth and development of 1890 Colleges and Universities (1890 Institutions), and his assistance in developing permanent legislation for the 1890 Institutions. This award carries a cash sum of $500.
Selection Criteria
1. He/She must have participated or be currently participating in
Agriculturally-related research at one of the ARD member Institutions.
2. He/She must hold an academic or professional appointment at one of the ARD member Institutions.
3. He/She must have received his or her earned doctoral/terminal degree in the last 5 years.
4. He/She must be a member and/or office holder in at least one professional society.
5. He/She must have a good record of accomplishments in writing proposals,
obtaining grants (other than Evans-Allen), publications (refereed and non-refereed) and other scholarly activities.
6. He/She must have used research in advancing teaching and/or extension programs and provided research opportunities for students at the undergraduate and graduate level.

List all professional experiences - teaching, research, extension, international, etc. and describe related accomplishments as indicated by outputs, outcomes, and impacts.

List all grants (titles, dates and amounts), awards and honors received, and active membership and appointments to professional societies. (Note: Evans-Allen Funds should not be included).
Current Research (20 points):
Provide a brief description (one-half page) of current research, overall research
accomplishments, and outstanding achievements.
Publications (20 points):
a. List complete citations of all published refereed papers.
b. List non-refereed papers, station reports and abstracts.
Public Service (10 points): Explain how the public service activities of the candidate have enhanced the university’s programs and visibility.
Note: Attach copies of one refereed paper that nominee considers his or her most outstanding publication.
